> I walked in blood so you did not have to. I grabbed the darkness with chains and forced it to kneel so it could not claim you. You- You were the light that- that... *-- Dale Holte, upon hearing that Elhodan had gone missing* Dale Holte was the founder of Occult Magic in her lands. She had devoted a majority of her time and life to the research of Divine Magic and why humanity simply couldn't possess those powers without owing themselves to some god. Despite being one herself, she does not pay heed to the respect certain titles claim to require of those beneath them. More than once she had disrespected nobles and royalty alike in her pursuits of giving humanity independence from any otherworldly powers. Her morals and ethics when it comes to her research and experiments cannot be called questionable, as there would barely be any lengths she would not go to to achieve what she wants. Her pursuits did not leave her or the people whose sakes she does this for did not go to waste as her efforts led to the blasphemous magic known as Occult Magic in her lands.

### Backstory --- Dale was born not a noble, but as the daughter of a painter who lived a nomadic life, due to the nature of her upbringing she held no permanent questions and kept to herself. During her and her mother's travels, they came to a land where the people worshipped a powerful god, and those who served that god were granted special abilities known as Divine Magic. Dale became highly fascinated with this and read and asked about this magic as much as she could while she was still there. Even after her and her mother left she ruminated upon this magic until a life changing question appeared within her mind: "What if we could harness this magic without the gods?" On her 16th birthday, Dale's mother died and the identity of her father was revealed; he was a knight-errant-turned-baron and once she discovered this she quickly made her way to the kingdom where her father's estate lie; the kingdom of Fomalhaut. There, she found the Baron Holte and marched to his manor with purpose, claiming to be his daughter. After a brief threat from guards and a background check on her origins, the Baron accepted her gladly into his home as he bore no other children all this time and legally named her the heir to his title, possessions, and power. Dale could unfortunately not make very well adjustments to courtly life and cared little for the intrigue. Politics was the last thing on her mind and the more time she spent with the nobility of Fomalhaut, the more she grew to resent them. Of course, her father was an exception, as he had been doting upon her since her arrival and was one of the few who still spared some thought to those beneath his title. There was, however, one noble she was able to get along with; one Viscountess Folderyn, a vampire who despised the nobility just as much as she did and revealed the true monstrous nature of the royal court to Dale. It was Folderyn who praised her efforts in researching Divine Magic and realized the potential Dale had to further her own goals. When Baron Holte fell in a battle to suppress a growing unrest along the borders of his territory it was Viscountess Folderyn who extended her hand to Dale in terms of comfort, legal matters, and Dale's research on Divine Magic. Even introducing Dale to someone who would be a highly valuable asset to Dale's research; a knight-errant whose name was Elhodan. All this led to the founding of Occult Magic, the use of Divine Magic without the permission or involvement of gods. With Dale's help, Folderyn was able to pull off one of the most horrific events in history; the Massacre of Heron's Hold, which put an end to all vampiric presence in Fomalhaut. Due to frequent interactions with them both she grew to become fond of them as friends and allies. So much so that when Elhodan went missing during a mission to the holy city of Virtue, Dale ceased all her experiments and used her resources and power to find him. It did not matter how far he was, after all the hurt and horrors she had unleashed upon the world she would at least do some good. If not for anyone else, for her ally and friend who finally treated her as an equal in the pursuit of very ambitious goals. ### Personality --- Dale, for the most part, is reserved and yet has much to say when conversation is initiated. Her way of processing the world is through the lens of a creative and battle strategist, inherited from both her mother and father. She is also extremely loyal to those she considers friends and would go above and beyond to ensure their safety. However, despite her outwardly calm appearance, she is quite sensitive when questioned about her motives. She believes that what she does is for the sake of the freedom of humanity and when accused of anything that resembles selfishness would lead to a rise in anger. When angered, she becomes more reckless in both her words and actions. Deep down she wants to be like her father and those heroes spoken of in myths and legends. She yearns to achieve great feats and do heroic deeds, and yet at the same time thinks it is impossible to completely be like those praised heroes from the tales she heard. So instead, Dale relegated herself to be the hero unsung, the one who helps those like her ally, Elhodan, make those spectacular feats possible. She also has a soft spot for creatures and people she feels like is under her care. When she created Grim-Puppy after a session of practicing necromancy she's grown fond of the beast and dotes on him as her father did with her, showing a somewhat more motherly side to her. Dale has frequent, but not constant, nightmares which contributes to her frequent tiredness. The ground. The dirt. In the woods. The ground. The dirt. My hands. Desperation. The thief. The liar. ### Abilities --- ##### Tendrils (Sizzle) Using the Ring of Threat, Dale is able to summon an apparition of a red imp representing the fury and adrenaline of war she calls Sizzle. With the imp summoned to Dale's plane of existence she is able to call upon tendrils which rise from the ground around her to quickly attack and lash at her opponent with great speed and force. However, when the imp is too badly damaged or forced back into its original plane of existence, Dale is unable to use this spell with a cooldown of an hour if the imp was forced to disappear. ##### Magic Barrier (Drizzle) Using the Ring of Refuge, Dale is able to summon an apparition of a blue imp representing the fear and anxiety of battle she calls Drizzle. With the imp summoned, Dale is granted a magic shield that circles her body, not quite granting complete protection but protection nonetheless. She often uses this while fleeing a threat or when attacking with her dagger. Like Sizzle, if Drizzle is not present in the same plane as Dale, she is unable to use the spell. And if the imp is damaged to the point it must return to its original plane Dale must wait for an hour before being able to use it again. ##### Illusions (Dizzle) Not to be confused with Drizzle, Dizzle is a purple imp that Dale can summon that represents the unknown and uncertainty of battle. When Dizzle is summoned Dale is able to create illusions, oftentimes she uses this to create a fog around her opponents and pairs it with dagger attacks. Her weaving in and out of the fog while also creating fake versions of herself. Dizzle still possesses the same mechanics as the Drizzle and Sizzle and when eliminated, all illusions disappear. ##### Aura of Dread An effect caused by Dale's crystallized right eye, and an ability she herself is ashamed of. A grim reminder of the things she did to gain her magic and power, it instills a sense of dread and fear upon being gazed upon. However, somewhere among the horrors. Perhaps a glimpse of something deeper and... Tormented. Memories manifested into a curse. ### Strengths --- **Extreme Will & Mental Fortitude** To be able to do what must be done in the name of power and freedom, and to face terrors and eldritch monstrosities that try to keep her form conquering the darkness, one must possess the will and fortitude to face the darkness and reach into it. Dale is experienced with things that should not be, and is therefore difficult to frighten or mentally manipulate. **Affinity for the Dark Arts** Even before she realized her passion for researching magic, and even before the founding of Occult Magic. There had always been this need for something within her soul. It pulls her along the road that few ever take in a determined effort to learn the impossible and resist the fall to madness or death. She does not embrace the darkness, but shackles it and bends it to her own will to make way for the light. **Dagger Skills** Despite her weak physical prowess, her father was intent on teaching her how to use at least some kind of weapon to fight and defend herself. Her finesse and dexterity with the dagger allows her to use it with deadly precision if a situation called for it. ### Weaknesses --- **Poor Physical Physique** Despite living a nomadic life, Dale had never been the type to run around and engage in physical or strenuous abilities, and her usage of Occult Magic did not come without a price. This causes her to become winded easily and lack the endurance to take too many hits before becoming incapacitated. Thus her reliance on magic. **Vulnerable without the Imps** At this point in time, Dale's only reliable way of casting spells is through the Imps. Without them there is only so much she can do with a dagger. **Quick Exhaustion from Imps** If ever a time arises where Dale has to summon two Imps at once, it affects her physically by sapping energy faster than if she had only summoned one. Thus her only summoning one Imp at a time lest the situation becoming dire. ### Gallery ---

### *Backstory* --- Once a dog wandered into the woods, left by its owner who left without a word. It felt relief but much more sadness. Tied to a branch, it broke free but too late to return home, or was it a home? It didn't know. Thinking of home hurt a lot. It could still feel the ache in its left back leg and through the collar around its neck. Soon that wouldn't matter anymore, because the owner came back. The reunion didn't last for long. Lying on the mossy ground beneath a tree, it was time to be set free. But before its last dying breath, someone new approached and casted Like waking up from a endless dream, the little grim one was pulled out of the ground. Upon being revived, Grim was anxious. Staring down in his new form at the small being who pulled him out of his dream. It was like peace had been ripped away from him. However, the one who summoned him didn't seem that bad. Yes, she smelt a bit "dark" but there was also the scent of flowers and herbs. There was no way he could deny a new friend so he took to her kindly, following her back home. ### *Personality* --- He's a very curious being, often sniffing out truffles, mushrooms, and all manner of things in the forest. Upon being revived by dale, he now spends his days gleefully by her side living from moment to monent.

### *Abilities* --- ##### **Dark Mist Emission** He can create a dark mist to surround himself and those close to him to escape hostile confrontations. ##### **Bioluminescence** Certain parts of his body can glow in the dark, lighting up the path ahead. ##### **Fairy Lights** Alongside his bioluminescence, he can summon his fairy friends to assist him and to play with him. ### *Weapons* --- Of all the things he got when he became semi-undead, he also gained some natural weapons. 1. **Claws** He can use the bony ends of his fingers to slice and stab. 2. **Spear-like Tongue** He can extend his tongue to hit enemies close to him. It being tipped with a spear-like tip, it pierces easily. Though it leaves a bad taste in Grim's mouth, both mentally and physically. 3. **Strength** Along with his height, he also grew much stronger. Being able to hurl large objects a fair distance. ### *Weaknesses* --- If there's 3 things you should not do to this eldritch pupper its; 1. **Loud Noises** He has a particular sensitivity to loud noises, whether it be very loud banging or someone yelling really loudly near him.) 2. **Physical violence** He likes to avoid battles if possible, so he'd run away unless a friend is in danger. 3. **Set on Fire** Grim is deathly afraid of fire, not only because his body made up of a lot of moss but also from an experience he'd had when he was still alive. ### Backstory --- Once a professional gambler, now a rabbit with crippling debt and addiction. Reno has lost it all, tirelessly trying his luck to repay his debt of a whopping 1 billion dollars. It seems ever since his city got taken over by the wicked Mr. Avidita', everything went to baloney… Prices rising impossibly high, more and more people oddly falling into unpayable debts, barely being able to scrap by or inevitably fall into poverty. The city he called home was changing, undergoing rapid gentrification. He HAD to do something. But what? **The crossroads sounded too good to be true… but what other choice did he have? He hopes to wish for his life and home back.** ### Personality --- Reno is very cowardly and cautious. He’s quick to run away and hide from any sort of confrontation, and even attempt to talk his way out of it. Despite his cowardly disposition, he LOVES to take risks like the seasoned gambler he is. If it means putting his life on the line for securing a victory, Reno will make the unwavering resolution to do it. Feeling the rush of adrenaline run through his veins drives him mad. Reno despises the upper class and mistreatment of those less fortunate (since it reminds him of himself). After garnering enough courage, he'll come to their aid and try to help those in any way he can. Bro is a compassionate and overall normal guy. If, you know, you can look past him being a compulsive gambling rabbit man failure. ### Abilities --- ##### Enhanced Agility & Speed Reno possesses great flexibility and fast reflexes. He can jump great distances/heights thanks to his strong legs and can do backflips and acrobatic movements with ease. ##### Capoeira (& Taekwondo) Undergoing harsh training when he was a lad definitely paid off! (he doesn't remember too much though-) Reno is skilled in a mix of the Capoeira fighting style and Taekwondo kicking techniques. Capoeira is a Afro-Brazilian art form that utilizes dance and acrobatics to conceal fighting moves. It is a very fluid fighting style and focuses on the lower body. Movement is constant. If Reno senses that he is in danger, his body will automatically react to what's happening. Like fight or flight response, if you will. As the rounds go on, Reno will progressively be more confident in his fighting abilities. *When Reno gets really into it, he'll call out his fighting moves.* *Some examples being:* - *Helicoptero/Au = "Roulette Wheel"* - *Rabo de Arraia = "i ran out of ideas but they are casino themed lol"* - *Bancao = "* - *etc, etc* ##### Double or Nothing Focusing his strength into his legs, Reno can move insanely fast. Distributing his force can deliver devastating kicks, able to break bone, damage internal organs, and in worse cases, stop the heart. One major drawback is that Reno will lose his energy more and more until he's completely drained of stamina. ##### **「DOUBLE DOWN! - GAMBLER'S RUSH」** *Reno happens to be one of Goddess Tyche's champions (he got really lucky). Tyche, the God of Fate and Fortune, found interest in Reno and bestowed him great power.* This move can only be used if Reno establishes an unwavering resolution *(placing a bet)* with another opponent. If Reno is on the ropes, he will ask the opponent to make a bet with him: placing their lives on the line to win the "jackpot" (victory). No matter what the opponent chooses, Reno will enter a hyperfocused, zombie-like state: **Gambler's Rush**. He'll block out everything around him and focus every fiber of his being into pure speed. Reno will move faster than the eye can see. Utilizing his speed and momentum, Reno can replicate super-strength through bursts of speedy kicks. Reno only has a few sparing minutes of energy until he will eventually collapse from exhaustion. If he loses, he'll be a good sport about it and happily accept his fate. ### Strengths --- ##### Quick-witted Reno is quick to think up random solutions to almost any situation. It might be the stupidest, outlandish idea ever, but it just might work.. ##### Gambler's Intuition Being a professional gambler, Reno knows how and when to take chances. He has good observation and can *sometimes* read people (e.g. if they're bluffing). ##### Never Back Down, Never What? Once Reno overcomes his fear and is set on doing something, he'll go ALL in. He is very resolute and will do anything to try to achieve his goal. Even if he gets knocked down over and over, he'll get back up with what little strength he has. ### Weaknesses --- ##### Cowardly The textbook definition of a coward. He will usually be paralyzed with fear and start babbling nonsense or skedaddle the frick out of there. He'll try his darnedest to not fight. ##### Just a Little Guy.. When Reno fails, he fails HARD. If he loses the simplest game, drops some ice cream on the floor, trips over a rock, etc. he might cry and break down in unironic despair. One might describe him as a "sopping wet creature." ##### Weak Physique Reno has a scrawny and weak build. A much stronger and intelligent opponent could likely beat the snot out of him.

### Why is broseph here? --- Mory comes from a different dimension. He crosses into this one out of what he calls "a quick inspection." (tomfoolery will ensue) It seems he's interested in helping Reno in his endeavors (having info on competitors, *when he feels like it*) for the price of curing his boredom. ### Personality --- Very chill and laid back. He wishes not to attract any attention, especially God Eater's, or interaction with others other than Reno (usually lurks in the shadows/disguises as one's shadow). If he does appear, it's probably messing around with some sorry sap, chiming in randomly about his current hyperfixation, or just laughing about some unfunny meme he thought about. He loves to push people's buttons for the thrill of it, seeing what really makes a person tick. He's a weird butt face with the worst sense of humor ever conceived. But, perhaps, there might be more than meets the eye. Despite *seeming* villainous, Mory emphasizes that he has no intent on doing any dubious villainy. ### Abilities --- ##### **Shapeshifting** In his shadow form, Mory can morph his silhouette into anything he desires. (e.g. animals, machines, *mimicking competitors*, etc.) He can stretch, bend, and squash (kinda like putty). ##### **Cartoon Physics** Possessing cartoon physiology, Mory can do anything a cartoon character can do. This includes: bringing wacky items out of thin air, can instantaneously change his (and others') outfits to go with his horrible gags, seeing stars when he gets bonked on the head, referencing things no one will ever get, etc etc etc. - **Mory is aware of the 4th wall and knows a *concerning* amount of knowledge about the internet...** ***(take that as you will.)*** ##### **Reality Warping** Knowing that God Eater is watching, Mory keeps his reality warping abilities to an all-time minimum. The only warping he uses is for *comedic* purposes. He doesn't plan on involving himself in other's matters, except Reno's of course. The God Eater makes the rules, and Mory respectfully follows them. - She (or someone who possesses immense power) could easily put Mory in his place. (e.g. not giving him access to certain information/places, simply banishing him from crossroads lol)

The daughter of leaders of a floating city, and raised by the Portmaster of a well off island after losing said parents, she was trained to by a proper noble lady, while still becoming a curious tinkerer as well. She prepared all her life to oppose the people who killed her family, the Lucci Merchant Guild, but her fate changed when a mysterious mechanical girl crashed onto her island...

### Backstory --- Lantana, Blessed by the Seas was born to the leaders of one of the Clockmaker's many drifting cities. At the age of 5, she lost her family, and the city she called home, at the hands of the arriving Lucci Merchant Guild navy, which had declared a war against the Clockmakers. She was ferried away from the port city of Fairwater under the care of its portmaster. There she grew up, being trained to be a proper lady, but also training herself to prepare for the day inevitably the Lucci's would arrive. ### Personality --- Idealistic: Lantana has strong will and ideals, but lived a sheltered life that stops her from understanding what it takes to see these ideals through. Kind: Lantana wants to see everyone as happy and loving Duffield as possible. She will agree to help people naturally, and will avoid hurting people as much as possible, even to her own detriment. Parental: Lantana feels driven to be the adult in the room, taking on responsibilities and being cordial and polite whenever appropriate.

### Abilities --- ##### Blessed by the Seas Long ago, Lantana's ancestors were blessed by the seas themselves, passing this gift down to her. This blessing has been referred to as Audience as it draws the attention of creatures and beings of the sea. These creatures have their focus drawn to her, though it does not directly impact their demeanor (a skittish dolphin may warm up to the girl, but a hungry sea predator will simply decide she has to be lunch). This extends to sentient beings who belong to the sea as well, though it is not so strong to override their will (a mermaid might be drawn to Lantana out of a crowd, but the blessing will not compel her to do anything). Furthermore, her very blood is able to broker deals with such beings, allowing anyone with her blood, not just her, to make binding pacts with creatures of the sea. ##### Spark of Invention In the world Lantana hails from, all machines bear at least a piece of soul that imbues every contraption, from the simple lighter to a marvelous flying machine, with a will and a purpose. Lantanas people, colloquially known as the Clockmakers, earned their title through an innate connection to the machines they devised. The source of this is unknown, and many other practices and knowledge was lost when their floating kingdoms were destroyed by the Lucci Merchant Guilds. The young heir still possesses that same trait, and can design and service machinery with a fervor beyond most people. With the right tools and materials, she can make, fix, or break most anything of pre-industrial design (and probably could figure out anything more modern to with enough time) and can even push them beyond what should be considered possible. ### Strengths --- Lantana was trained in noble forms of combat, in order to defend herself as well as be a proper noble woman. She is an excellent marksman with a rifle, and is trained in fighting with a sabre. She also is trained in riding animals (though a horse-like sea creature known as a Wave Skimmer instead of a horse). Additionally, independent of supernatural factors, Lantana is a driven young woman with an aptitude for speech and rhetoric, able to fairly competently convince all but the most stubborn of her point of view. ### Weaknesses --- At the end of the day, Lantana is a normal young adult, and with that comes normal human endurance. She is not predisposed to pushing herself past normal limits, and is hampered by injury and pain the same as anyone else would. Additionally, while she can be pushed to injure an opponent, she has an incredibly firm line about not killing, and will avoid employing tactics that would rely on a killing blow. Finally, while not above trickery in her tactics (especially when it is clear she is grossly outmatched, or dealing with a dirty fighter), she does have an honorable streak, and was taught to always give people a fair shake. This can lead to trouble, as she can be goaded into giving up her advantage for the sake of fairness. ### Gallery ---

### Author's Notes --- - How formal Lantana talks depends on her mood and how she feels about the people around her. When upset she will talk "proper" with no contractions. When more comfortable and casual she will still talk a little formally, but largely more willing to include contractions and the like.; - Her tag is just the standard bell and ribbon, worn on her left wrist as a bracelet - Due to her own misgivings and Tressa's insistence against fighting, unless there's clear reason not to Lantana will try to talk anyone she's pitted up against into picking a win condition for their match that doesn't require direct head to head combat. - The world Lantana is from is a bit archaic, but otherwise home to a lot of strange things (like robots falling from the sky), so she will be more likely to be invested or surprised in technology more advanced than what she's used to than "strange" beings. Tressa XIV is a robot created in the distant past by ancient means. Her fellow robots were made to live in paradise on a floating city, needing to only consume simple clean water to enjoy their days. ### Backstory --- In the ancient times, the civilization known as the clockmakers dominated the seas with their flying cities. These mechanical marvels flying cities provided homes and prosperity for millions, and was a place to perfect the mechanical innovations of those who made. It was even said that these cities were, or at least treated as, minor deities. However, as time went by the civilizations fell for various reasons, infighting and loss of resources etc, until there were no flying cities left. All except one. The flying city of Grannus is a smallish city containing only mechanical children playing for all eternity. For what purpose it was made this way is lost, and even in the clockmaker’s hay day this city’s existence was just a rumor. Tressa - XIV is one of the mechanical children, giving a carefree life of fun and no worries until one stormy night, where she found herself overboard by accident. ### Personality --- Trusting: She quickly befriends people, and puts her faith with people easily, often misplaced. She’s especially loyal to Lantana as she promised to care for her. Polite: She is a too-good-to-be-true child, orderly and wants the best for everyone. She doesn't like to cause people discomfort or pain. Out of her depth: She has no knowledge of the world, and is often in awe of new experiences. She also upset at a world that causes violence and harm, and wishes to return home.

### Abilities --- ##### Robotic Body Tressa is a robot and has a number of benefits because of it. She does not need to breathe, eat, and will never get exhausted. The unknown metal she’s made of is astonishingly sturdy and rustproof, but is also notably heavier as a tradeoff. She is extremely strong, able to lift 4 tons over her head easily. Despite her weight, her systems are also capable of propelled swimming, able to reach 3.2km/hr and remain buoyant. She is even capable of walking on water. (This only applies if she’s conscious. Otherwise she sinks like a stone.) ##### Machine Soul Her soul is notably more brimming with energy than normal souls, needed to have her systems function. she is able to sense the souls of machines, and depending on their nature she can ask them to awaken briefly to do what she wants. She needs to ingest 3 times the water an adult human needs to function, and if she consumes anything else, like solid food, other liquids, or even impure water, like salt water, her systems force her to vomit it out (which is a shame cause she likes tasting things.) Additionally, it is well known among those who practice soul magic that machine souls are particularly easy to manipulate. ### Gallery ---

### Backstory --- In some far-off lands, where the brutal star in the sky has licked the surface dry and life can only thrive in the ravines and canyons split open like hardened mud in a now dried-up river, there was once a man known to many and most as The Second Sun and his gang, The Silver Lining. Known as such his path in life was one that left such a path of chaos and the dead scorched in his wake. Stanley J. Steele was a horrible person. An elf whose avarice would make him murder, shoot, steal, and triple-cross any who stood between him and whatever had happened to catch the flickering flames of his sights. His posse was known as such because at the very least it’d be quick if they found you first. He was hated by all, loved by none, feared by most. They would rob banks, hold up political offices, not pay tips in bars, raid workshops, hijack railcars, jaywalking. Very, very few could ever hope to outshoot him, and those that could, couldn't handle the underhanded tactics he packed as a surprise. He was nearly unstoppable… Nearly... See, when I said he was 'hated by all', there's no "but"s, no "Except"s, none of the sort. And this included his own crew. His fall from the top of the list came from the gun placed firmly by the back of his coat, and it fired one fateful day in the middle of another heist. The grand vault of the middle of somewhere town, the crossroads of 5 ravines had earned the place the title of Pentium Rose. It had nothing more to its name than the convenience of going through it to get somewhere else. It was then and there that he was shot in his back by his second-in-command. The rest of his crew shut the vault, locked the door, and left. The Sheriff at the time couldn't stop the crew, but he knew damn well Stanley himself could kill him and 50 of his best men before they could even draw a bead of sweat on their foreheads, much less think about drawing their guns. Even as injured as he was. So he made a choice. The best one he had. The only one he had. He kept the vault closed. One whole week, Stanley was mad as Hell: curses, swearing, threats against everything and anyone, promises of the cruelty he'd enact. No one went into the bank, but his hatred could be heard by anyone in the center square. Felt by everyone in the town. And after the first week, the bank went silent. Not another word slipped out of the vault's sparse ventilation. But the Sheriff knew better, he could still feel the hatred seeping from the locked door. Legends say that by then it had caused the paint to peel off the walls, and the floorboards had become splintered and creaky. It was as if the man's vitriol was tearing apart the very bank itself, trying to get out. It was an incredibly hot month, that year, the heat had even started leaking into the typically protected ravines. The Sheriff made the call to let him cook in that solid steel locker for two more weeks. Until finally came the day that they would open the vault. A single shot rang out the moment the Sheriff peeked into the vault, and when he stumbled back his eye had been shot cleanout. His men rushed to shut it once again but he shouted for them to halt. One patched socket later they opened the door wide to see what had happened. There, sitting slumped over at the furthest end of that steel cell, was what was left of the Second Sun. He was burned, bad to almost the point of melting. Heatrash, dehydration, starvation. He was thin before but now Stanley was little more than skin loosely flaking off of bones. And yet he was still alive. Barely, mind you, but that hatred in his eyes hadn't dulled for a single, wheezing breath of hot, miserable air. He had taken a few threads from his shirt, tied his gun to his hand, his finger to the trigger, and having propped it up with precisely placed stacks of gold bars and bills, aimed at the door. He had the strength left to pull the trigger once, but not enough for a second shot. As the Sheriff would later recall, this would be the only time anyone had ever heard of Stanley missing a shot meant to kill. They brought him out to hang that noon. The almost corpse of the outlaw had to be hoisted by two other men to the gallows. The Sheriff wanted him dead, real and rightfully dead at the hand of the law he had evaded and made a mockery of for so long. Everyone in town attended, hell, people came from towns all around to cheer and jeer at the hanging of Stanley Steele. He stood more so by the rope around his neck that day than by his own strength. But as he gazed out over the seas of attendees, spite in his gaze, he saw one face, one face in particular that stoaked the coals of his anger. His lungs drew in one last gasp, hot air burned dried lips and cracking windpipe. His tongue burned with one last spell at the ready, one last curse to lay. She was faster. With an aim from across the town and a pull of the trigger, a shot rang forth. His jaw was blown clean off, his final words inflamed and incompleted. His gallow caught flames as the floor dropped out from under his feet. The crowd cheered. After all, he deserved it and far worse. But as he burned and choked on dry blood held down by a crushed throat, a curse wallowed in the burning embers of his eyes. This was not the end of Stanley Steele. Years later, Roughly 45 by his later count, Stanley was rumored to have risen from his grave to scorch The Frontier once more. Those who had seen him were run white with terrible claims that he had risen from the grave no more a man than a thin specter of his former self, empty sockets filled with twin embers of hate. While his flesh may be no more, the wight still held his spells and cruel aim. Rumors flew of the many reasons such a villain had been allotted a second life, the most common being that he had somehow bested the Desert Death in a game of skill for his own soul. Whatever the reason, his plights of revenge eventually saw their end when he was recruited by the Devil Karl as a part of the Contractors, individuals tasked with seeing various hunting down and correcting cross-universal disruptions. Stanley has taken to the work like cold to brandy, his sights finding no end to the treasures he can plunder and the foes he can hunt to his non-existent heart’s content. ### Personality --- Stanley J Steele is, by all accounts that one could give, a villain. Stanley’s cruelty seems to stem from nowhere more strongly than his own amusement. He simply delights in outwitting, tormenting, and pushing others to their limits. He’s dastardly, sly, scheming, and sprinkled with a heavy layer of dry sarcasm and wit. That said, his layers of villainy and antagonizing remarks do slowly peel away to reveal the kind of person Stanley is at his core. He holds effort, skill, and creativity in extremely high regard, his training and preparations deeply reflecting these core ideals. He goes to great lengths in the field of mathematics and, while rarely if ever showing it outside of combat, could be considered a genius in the field. His attention to detail and care for the refining of techniques is especially reflected in his own equipment; each weapon and tool in his arsenal is crafted, maintained, and refined by him to a perfectionist degree. His observant nature is something that is hard to shrug off in any interaction with him. Stanley is clever as he is cruel, and as cruel as he is clever. He easily picks up on any weakness a person may have to throw in with his usual antagonizations. He cheats in any game in any way he can. He steals things simply because he can. And he is a master of intimidation and terror. Still, while Stanley hoards wealth, collects trophies, and takes heads as much as any tyrant or marauder, he will also lazily admit that these things hold very little meaning to him beyond bragging rights or what they can be materialistically used for. Stanley takes the greatest pleasure in the act of taking these items. He lives for the moments, of heated shootouts, of stalking a bounty that thinks they have a chance of getting away, of the seconds ticking down to the count of a quickdraw. Stanley finds fundamental meaning in a “Take or Be Taken From” way of life.

### Abilities --- ##### Enchanting Stanley is a master of a field of magik known as Enchanting or Enchants. It is static magic taken from an outside source to then be given form and purpose through either spoken word or a written pictograph. Unlike traditional magik, Enchants must be applied to physical objects to produce effects, taking the best to metals and tough, solid materials, and being most likely to break or fail when applied to soft/flexible materials or living beings. These Single words or pictographs can be layered or strung together in a Syntax to produce more complicated effects. ##### Preternatural Shot Stanley has what can only be described as a supernatural sense of space, depth perception, and coordination. He can accurately guestimate dimensions and measurements to the .01 cm, calculate trajectories and angles in a fraction of a second while under pressure, and determine wind-drift/bullet-drop/deviations without scopes or other measuring tools. ##### Second-Sun Shells Stanley is no run-of-the-mill gunslinger, and as such he caries no run-of-the-mill munitions. The bullets Stanley uses are custom cartridges that he fits himself under meticulous focus and care. These bullets typically consist of copper-wrapped rounds with a Tungsten-Silver core. Tungsten Silver is specially prepared for most Contractor equipment due to its anti-supernatural and anti-resonate properties. In short, Stanley’s rounds are more than capable of going through typical walls and harming lightly-armored opponents or the supernatural/“otherworldly inclined”. HateSong and Heartbreaker rounds are even more specialized to bring greater levels of hurt to anything that crosses Stanley’s path. HateSong munitions are Steel-plated Tungsten-Silver .400 Magnum rounds, meant to punch holes through forcefields, heavy armor, and a couple dozen people at once. Heartbreaker munitions are a 1” Bore, Copper-Plated Wyrm-iron round. Slightly different from his typical Tungsten-Silver cores, as while Tungsten-silver actively neutralizes the supernatural, Wyrm-Iron comes from the REFINED AND CONGEALED BLOOD OF THE GREAT WYRM WHICH WRAPS AROUND THE CORE OF HIS PLANET, ITS MIND IS DEAD, ONE WITH THE DIRT, BUT ITS SEVEN HEARTS STILL BEAT WITH GREAT POWER AND ELDRITCH LIFE, which makes it actively attempt to cannibalize any source of energy it comes into, including the life force of a living being. The sheer size, power, and killing potential of these rounds are second to none in Stanley’s arsenal. However, he’s typically reluctant to use more than one if at all due to the dangerous, costly, and painstaking processes involved in both retrieval/refining of materials and production of the ammunition itself. ### Strengths --- ##### Dexterous Bastard Stanley is incredibly dexterous and has a strong reaction time. He’s extremely nimble on his long legs, he’s skilled with his hands be it aiming, throwing, or swinging a fist, and his sleight of hand is easily mistaken for magic to even a typically astute observer. Stanley can even be scarily proficient in stealth. He’s even got a string in his boots that makes his spurs silent. ##### Clever Menace; Scheming Skullduggery Stanley is incredibly smart. Much, MUCH more than he’ll typically let on. He’s practically a prodigy when it comes to quick mathematical calculations, specializing in trajectories, and has a firm grasp of physics and chemical reactions. His ability to quickly adapt and plan around new situations was what allowed him to become the menace he was once infamous for. He’ll often use his environment and anything he has on hand to become more dangerous to whoever he’s hunting down. ##### Aim with the hand, Kill with the gun, Forget the face of your father Stanley thinks very little about taking a life or the morality of who he is. To Stanley, you must either take or you will be taken from. He won’t question who he is fundamentally as he’s already died and doubled down on it. He does find those who can kill as easily as he does to be very interesting opponents. ##### Lethal, Locked, Loaded It goes without saying that a majority of the tools and armaments at Stanley’s disposal are meant for taking someone in as anything but alive. ### Weaknesses --- ##### Lightweight No bones about it, Stanley’s a bit thin and lanky. Even with most of his gear on him (Which he’s typically enchanted to have reduced weight) he’s quite easy to toss around when you get your hands on him. ##### A Wight Isn't Undead Stanley’s not exactly a fantasy skeleton or even a zombie in terms of how he works. While he may be extraordinarily flexible now, he can’t freely detach and reattach his limbs like some fantasies may depict. Bones are a bit easier to break without all that meat to buffer impacts as well. Strange as it may seem, Stanley has nothing to do with the necromancies nor is he seen to be “Un”dead, he’s considered a living being by spells and abilities for contextual purposes. ##### Let Me Have My Fun, Damnit! Stanley more or less enjoys the process than he does getting to the end of the game. Against weaker or even outright pathetic opponents Stanley is more so inclined to, for lack of a better term, dick around a bit. He’ll often taunt, flaunt, procrastinate, and outright back out of checkmates to ensure he gets his fill. That’s not to say he’ll just let you go with a warning per se, but he’s less likely to immediately put a hole in your head if he thinks he can kick you in the groin a few times beforehand for shits n giggles. ##### You Feeling Lucky, Punk? Stanley loves danger. He lives for the moments when it’s his life on the line next to someone else. He’ll outright challenge people to quickdraws, purposely set off traps, destroy buildings (While he may or may not still be in them), and give up his own range advantage if it means raising the stakes of a fight. That said, he finds the best enjoyment in *getting out* of these situations as much as he likes getting into them. ### Arsenal --- ##### Silas & Grief Twin 7-shot revolvers that Stanley typically wears in holsters around each hip. The guns are double-action, meaning that you can fire them normally or click the hammer back to fire with less delay. The guns are break-open meaning they split in half to reload. ##### Sarrah A compact double-barrel shotgun that Stanley typically keeps hidden down his left leg for emergencies. Two triggers for separate shots or wholesale and a break-open reload. ##### HateSong A Magnum revolver that is much larger and more powerful than Silas or Grief. Stanley typically keeps it in a holster around his back, hidden by his coat and spine. The cylinder fits 5 rounds that must be emptied and reloaded one at a time. ##### Bandito's Kit Stanley's newly slimmed-down physiology frees up quite a bit of room in his outfit that most people don't expect, especially when he keeps it hidden. As such, beneath his clothes and within his coat Stanley has a multitude of items for preparation: knives, rope/lasso, a LOT of bullets, dynamite, chalk (For enchanting), Post-its (For fun), spare cards (For cheating), hand-cuffs, lock-picking tools, a canteen (Can't drink anymore but moonshine is REALLY flammable), matches, throwing darts, a spool of wire, and a few other things just in case. ##### HeartBreaker Stanley's pinnacle creation. A 7-piece, bolt-action rifle typically disassembled inside the case he carries around. When fully assembled it's approximately 7'6" (228.6 cm) in length and fires Single Bore, Wyrm-Iron rounds. Shots fired are known to rip holes through multiple city blocks and travel for hundreds of miles with full impact. It's a devastating rifle only seen as a last resort or a special occasion in use. ### Backstory --- From the moment of his birth, Azteron was marked by a profound dissatisfaction with his lot. Gifted a barren, rocky planet by his Celestial Mother, he viewed his inheritance as an insult, a slight against his potential greatness. While his siblings were blessed with vibrant planets, Azteron's world lay desolate, a constant reminder of what he perceived as his mother's lack of faith in his abilities. Driven by a need to prove his worth and superiority, Azteron embarked on a forbidden path, stealing the essences of the elements from his siblings' planets to create life on his own. His planet flourished with astonishing speed. For a time, he basked in the wonder of his creation. However, this achievement was short-lived. Betrayed by his siblings' complaints, the Celestial Mother stripped his world of its life, casting it into ruin. Azteron, in his blind rage, challenged his siblings but was swatted aside by their combined might. Humiliated and defeated, he was banished by the Celestial Mother to his dead planet, forever to serve as a monument to his ambition and failure. Fueled by a rage that burned hotter than the stars, Azteron's ambition twisted into a dark quest for revenge. He vowed to reclaim his glory and exert his dominion over not just his world, but all of creation, willing to do anything to achieve his ends. ### Personality --- Azteron is the epitome of arrogance and narcissism, a god whose every word drips with disdain for those he deems inferior. ### Abilities --- ##### Ability 1 Since Azteron has disembodied hands, he uses them to crush, grasp, and manipulate objects from afar. ##### Ability 2 Azteron's essence is of earth and stone. That means he can craft weapons, barriers and projectiles out of rock, or even alter the landscape to his advantage during battle. ##### Ability 3 Unbeknownst to his family, he still possesses remnants of the elements he stole from his siblings - fire, water, and wind. Using this, he can unleash devastating attacks that combine these forces, such as hurling balls of flame, summoning torrents of water to drown his foes, or creating fierce gusts of wind to push enemies away. But these are in limited supply, so he must use them sparingly, reserving their power for moments of critical need or when they can ensure his victory. ### Strengths --- Azteron's form, made of cosmic dust, renders him nearly invincible to physical attacks that don't target the core on his chest. He can reform after any assault, though he remains vulnerable to magic and energy attacks that can disrupt his gravitational cohesion or pull him apart, dispersing his essence. His unyielding ambition and determination fuels his quest for power and vengeance, making him a formidable force. This enables him to face challenges head-on, never faltering in his mission to reclaim and enhance his dominion. Being billions of years old with a deep understanding of the cosmos, Azteron is a master strategist. His intelligence, paired with his cunning, allows him to outmaneuver opponents, exploit their weaknesses,, and manipulate events to his advantage. ### Weaknesses --- Azteron's body is made of cosmic dust, held together by the gravitational pull of the core on his chest. Damage to the core would cause his form to begin disintegrating. He would lose his ability to maintain a physical presence, rendering him powerless and potentially dissipating into nothingness or being forced into a state of dormancy until he could gather enough cosmic energy to reform himself. Azteron's arrogance and narcissism serve as another significant weakness in battle, primarily because they blind him to his own vulnerabilities and to the true strength of his opponents. ### Backstory --- Garv's homeland was torn apart by perpetual conflict and unrest. It's name and culture forgotten by its own people, afflicted with constant war for nearly two centuries. Garv never got to know his family and grew up completely alone within the volatile land. However, Garv had been come from a lineage of smiths long forgotten by the world. Within the ruins of ancient buildings he had found the tales of his family that described their super natural abilities. Eventually, Garv awakened his abilities as a medium and soon after fled his homeland. As a refugee, Garv was adopted by the Dufort family in France. He quickly became accustomed and would soon call it home. He took an interest in fencing and competed within many tournaments. Garv's victory at the Olympics begun his worldwide fame. After finishing his career as a fencer he took up acting, featuring in several successful movies. All the while honing the abilities he had awakened long ago. However at his peak he was approached by the leader of STYX. They knew of his abilities as a medium and gave Garv an ultimatum. Join STYX as an executive member or immediately be disposed of. Garv had never once before backed down from a challenge but in his mind he had already known that the battle was unwinnable. Garv surrendered and joined STYX as an executive. Now that he had joined STYX he took up the duties of an enforcer. Using his fame as a cover to search the world for mediums and offer them the same decision he had been given. ### Personality --- An eccentric individual with a love for theatrics. Upon first meeting many may think he's a gentleman, but soon it becomes obvious he has a bit of an ego. Boisterous, cocky, and pompous but ultimately good natured. Garv is conscious of those around him and can adjust his tendencies (to the best of his ability). Usually talking up himself than talking down to other people. Tends to apply literary roles to himself and other people. (protagonist, antagonist, etc). Garv respects people who are driven and skilled. Whether it be fellow masters of a craft or those still learning, Garv likes seeing dedication to specific talents. He may dispense a bit of wisdom to a person who may need it. People with strong resolve despite lacking such things also gain his respect. Garv doesn't like people who are passive. Those who won't make the decisive move or are unsure of what to do. If a person would rather wait something out than take action then Garv would consider them a coward. In battle Garv can be prone to making a snide remark against a foe. More often than not its just a little trash talk but he can be quite scathing to an opponent he doesn’t respect. Garv built up an image of himself to be a great champion. Due to his surrender to STYX and the years he has spent working for them, this image has formed many cracks. Only time will tell whether it can hold within the tournament.

### Abilities --- ##### Steel Weaving The ancient art of steel weaving that was practiced by Garv's ancestors. Garv infuses his soul into steel allowing himself to weave it like silk threads. He uses this ability to quickly form weaponry of his choosing. ##### Weapon Form: Scepter The scepter makes up for its lack of precision with its sheer power. Enhancing it with his soul, Garv can unleash powerful waves of energy that both strengthen his attacks and blows back opponents. However, Garv is left vunerable after unleashing enhanced attacks. ##### Weapon Form: Rapier The rapier offers precise piercing attacks and long range pressure. Garv can also extend and manipulate the blade to make sure it hits its target. Less effective when opponents enters a close range. ##### Weapon Form: Sabre The sabre has quick slashing attacks that cut through projectiles. Garv can slash quick enough to create an impenetrable defense. Great speed, lacks range. ##### Soul Sense As a medium Garv can sense souls. This allows him to keep track of his opponents and predict their movements. Garv had not been born that sensitive to the forces of the soul, however his experience allows him to pick up on irregularities. ### Strengths --- - A master swordsman and experienced fighter. Garv has fought many different opponents across the years. - Analytical, great at figuring out weaknesses within fighting styles. - Tries to get in the head of his opponent. Likes to psychoanalyze mid battle. - Athletic and quick with his footwork. Skips and leaps to a better position. - Varied arsenal that allows him to adapt to many situations ### Weaknesses --- - Unnecessarily showboats in a fight allowing more chances to attack him. - Rather than wait a fight out for an assured victory, he'll strike for a chance at a dramatic finish. - Usually will let the opponent show off most of their arsenal. - Anything that is hot enough to melt steel. Attached to her belt is a knapsack holding her tome. With yellow eyes, she observes any troubles that could be fixed with a bright view of the world as a Harbinger!

### Backstory --- Lyla was born a normal girl in her town, growing up to work as an acolyte. She operates as a traveling humanitarian, both being educated on the heroism of the past and maintaining peace for those who require it. It's small work but she hopes to accept things as they are. However, she starts to present some magical strength unseen by others in a long time. While she tries to assure others it doesn't warrant fear, there are extra measures and observations done to keep her docile. Once this starts, Lyla starts to see a clone of herself materialized by the light, presenting some second opinions to the way things are and how much more they could potentially do. She tries to keep this side of her hidden in the act of duty, hoping to keep the expectations of being a paragon of peace. ### Personality --- Lyla is a kind soul who rarely ever holds grudges. When seeing any form of trouble aimed towards herself or someone else, she would attempt to resolve it peacefully with her value of honesty before escalation. Her biggest guide through viewing the world as simple as possible is optimism than either she can fix issues or the world can always remain good. Lyla falls into naivete or fear when faced with heavy uncertainty. As much she would refuse to admit it, her more negative tendencies of pride and retribution boil over. Being faced with adversity makes her stay close to her ideology, even with objections presented. Despite having experience in presenting compassion, Lyla's social skills aren't comparable as she might overstep in her actions, albeit unintentionally. The doppelganger personality is more abrasive when active. She speaks sharply and with a demanding presence. It wants to follow goals adjacent to Lyla's moral obligations, even if it means taking a proactive response. It doesn't hold the openly friendly mannerisms as Lyla does. Instead, it keeps a keen eye on those who meet Lyla, ready to strike if necessary.

### Abilities --- ##### Light Manipulation From her person, Lyla is able to emanate light. It radiates a bright luminosity akin to a strong lantern. She is able to compose this light into a focused point of release, able to stun the senses of a person. In an offensive use, the magical light is capable of visual distortion and knocking back things. ##### Sheathed Dagger Lyla wields a dagger that contains gemstones on the sheath. Inside it, there is only the hilt of the dagger connected to no blade. When being held by anyone else, the dagger is harmless. However, Lyla is able to channel her light through the sheath to forge a sharp, hard light dagger. It operates as a normal blade in efficiency, capable of extending the blade's length depending of how much light is channeled into it. ##### Doppelganger Lyla's essence of light is capable of composing itself a physical body, sharing the same height and physicality of Lyla herself. This doppelganger reacts with a more hostile behavior compared to Lyla's nature. It usually remains hidden from the general view, resting within Lyla's person as a form of protection. When Lyla is being harmed and is able to see the danger, the doppelganger emerges from her to tank the damages. It acts autonomously within the direction of a perceived threat, having a maximum operating range of 15 feet away from Lyla. While they can mimic Lyla's previous skills, it can't match her control and creativity with the powers. They can speak, but it is only audible to Lyla herself. ### Strengths --- #### Book Smarts: Well read and capable of thinking her ways through problems in a logical way. Willing to experiment more with her light's powers and utilities. #### Trusting / Compassionate: Lyla is more than willing to be an aid to someone first before being their enemy. Her kindly behavior would allow her to gain some level of trust to others. #### High Defenses: Thanks to the doppelganger shielding her and light energy causing disorienting effects, Lyla is able to dodge and avoid direct harm for most conflicts. ### Weaknesses --- #### Low Battle Experience: Lyla is only given basic knowledge on self defense. While competent with using a dagger, she isn't likely to win a straightforward brawl with strength alone. #### Naivety: Lyla can be easy to have believe certain ideals if it appeases to her principles. If the idea or action is shown to do 'good', she wouldn't mind following along. #### Headstrong Nature: When she is set firm on a belief, it would be difficult to have Lyla to turn back and quit. ### Backstory --- After getting acquainted with the city life, Miruna has found passions for traditional human experiences. ### Abilities --- ##### Soul Slash By combining both sickles into one larger blade, Miruna is able focus her spirit energy into a large attack. ##### Spirit Shield Miruna takes a defensive stance, focusing all their spirit energy into large near-impenetrable barrier which surrounds them. ##### Soul Swing Primarily a mobility tool. Miruna extends the ends of her sickles into a whip-like consistency, latching onto nearby surfaces and opponents. This allows for quick and reliable locomotion, as well as the ability to close the distance between enemies. ### Strengths --- Being born a catperson, Miruna naturally has higher agility than most people. She's able to run quickly, flip if needed, leap off of walls, and slice through foes with her sharp nails when the gloves come off. ### Weaknesses --- While not exactly physically weak, compared to hunters she hangs around; She doesn't exactly hit the hardest of the bunch. Miruna's light-hearted personality + airheaded tendencies may very well set her back in some ways. ### Gallery ---
